Find the real price after a discount
Enter the original price and discount percentage to see the final price and total saving. The calculator can also handle stacked discounts, where a second reduction is applied after the first.
How the calculation works
A 25% discount on 120 saves 30 and produces a final price of 90. The formula is original price × (1 − discount ÷ 100).
Two discounts of 20% and 10% do not equal 30% off. The first reduction changes the price before the second is applied. A 100 item becomes 80 and then 72, which is a combined discount of 28%.
Useful checks before buying
- Compare the final price, not the headline percentage.
- Check whether VAT, delivery or service fees are added later.
- Confirm whether a voucher applies before or after another promotion.
- Use the money saved figure to compare offers with different original prices.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find the original price from a sale price?
Divide the sale price by 1 minus the discount rate as a decimal. For example, 80 after a 20% discount means 80 ÷ 0.8 = 100.
Can a discount exceed 100%?
Not for a normal sale price. A discount of 100% makes the item free; more than 100% would produce a negative price.
Does the calculator include VAT?
It treats the entered amount as the starting price. Use the VAT Calculator if tax must be added or removed separately.
